July 21-23, 2019 VBS at Yokohama International Baptist Church

This Sunday we started our preparation for Yokohama International Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School. At the same time, most of our team is still recovering from sickness going around.

This Sunday marks our first Sunday serving at YIBC! We had an opportunity to attend a few of their services, and also started to decorate the sanctuary and rooms around The church. The theme of the BNS is “In the Wild”,a jungle inspired theme that takes the students on an adventure to explore and find Jesus.

One of the things that struck me about how this church runs VBS is that they see it as an opportunity that has been given by God to spread and share the gospel to the local community around. Just like Yurigaoka Christ Church, they know this may be one of the only opportunities that the children or the families may ever hear of the gospel. Because of this reality, they do not take any chances or leave room for mistakes and try their best to have the best VBS possible.

One of the major issues this past week has been that a majority of our team has been sick, including me, Ai, and Trevor. So one of our biggest trials is that we have to recover from our sickness while also serve the kids that we are leading at this VBS. Both Ai and I went to the Clinic on Monday and got medication for this sickness, and have tried our best to rest. Today was our first day of VBS, and though we were sick, we were all able to get through the day, PRAISE GOD! The VBS will continue until Sunday, so we will be resting and trying to fight this sickness before the camp ends.

Prayer Requests:

- Please pray that the children and families of those attending this VBS will be able to have a radical encounter with Christ, or will have seeds of the gospel planted in their hearts that will grow into fruition by God’s Will and timing.

- Please pray that our team may recover from the sickness going around and become whole in Jesus’ name, in order best serve God’s kingdom in Japan!
