Short-term OMF missionaries on top of Mount Iwaki!

When I was young, my parents supported missionaries and frequently invited them over to our home in Houston. I was captivated by their stories of living in a foreign land, and of how the gospel was transforming lives overseas. Life with God was an adventure.

That motivation took a back seat in college and into my first job in Boston. I doubted whether there was any connection between technology and ministry. Thankfully, I met friends who had combined both into a meaningful pursuit. On their advice I decided to grab night classes at a local seminary to see where God would lead.

In my 3rd semester I enrolled in a missions course with Chris, a classmate heading to Hirosaki Japan. The nature of our shared backgrounds and the timing of our schedules matched in a really fortunate way. Perhaps providence. I had never been to Japan before, but after two months living in the countryside churches of Aomori, I found a renewed direction and something that I very much wanted to pursue.

That was last summer. This summer, our team has doubled in size and halved in age, but are just as eager! The coolest part is that we are a group of friends who are discerning Gods calling for our lives together. As for me, I have many questions during this prolonged discernment process… many that very well might not be answered in the way I would expect! But I am learning to trust the process.

Thank you for praying with me and our team,

Li
